An Appeal to Heaven:

The Tree Flag (or Appeal to Heaven Flag) was one of the flags used during the American Revolution. The flag, featuring a pine tree flag with the motto "An Appeal to God," or, more usually, "An Appeal to Heaven," was used originally by a squadron of six cruisers commissioned under George Washington's authority as commander in chief of the Continental Army in October 1775. It was also used by Massachusetts' state navy vessels in addition to privateers sailing from Massachusetts.

The motto also appears (with the verb in the Future Tense: "Nemo Me Impune Lacesset") above an American Timber Rattlesnake on a 1778 $20 bill from Georgia as an early example of the colonial use of the coiled rattlesnake symbol, which later became famous on the Gadsden flag. The phrase also appears on mourning bands worn over the badges of law enforcement officers in the USA

Excellent service plus learning opportunity

I received my second order from this fine company and, as usual, the products were excellent!! I always try to do a memory brush up so I can share the unique and important history that these shirts represent. I enjoyed answering questions about your "join or die" shirt imprinted with Ben Franklin's 1754 die cut showing the seperate 'states' in the cut up rattle snake. BTW, you were aware that the rattle snake is only found in North America and tends to not look for a fight but will strike with deadly accuracy when threatened!
