In 1980 the Secretary of the Navy directed that the ship with the longest active status shall display the First Navy Jack until decommissioned or transferred to inactive service. Then the flag will be passed to the next ship in line. This honor was conferred on the following U.S. Navy vessels:

1981–1982: Destroyer tender USS Dixie (AD-14), commissioned 1940 1982–1993: Destroyer tender USS Prairie (AD-15), commissioned 1940 1993–1993: Submarine tender USS Orion (AS-18), commissioned 1943 1993–1995: Repair Ship USS Jason (AR-8), commissioned 1944 1995–1995: Ammunition ship USS Mauna Kea (AE-22), commissioned 1957 1995–1998: Aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62), commissioned 1959 1998–2009: Aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), commissioned in 1961 2009-Present: Aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-65), commissioned 1961

Nice flag. Thin enough to fly well but thick enough for durability. Flags from Anin are awesome. Made in USA and packaged well and comes with care instructions.

Great additions to my outdoor display.

I have a display of 19, yes that's right, 19 American flags on my front lawn that fly 24/7, 365 days a years. Recently made a purchase of the First Navy Jack and The 1775 Continental, both made in America. I need tough flags that will look good for long time and are reasonably priced. This new flag, and other previously purchased flags, are of great quality and meet my requirements. Looking forward to buying more great flags in the future!

Disappointed

For an Annin flag that is a $39 flag it’s VERY thin, one of the grommets is loose and only printed on one side! Hear a lot about Annin Flag co., this is my first flag from them and more than likely my last. Expected better quality and more flag for the money, biggest thing it has going for it is made in America, but for the quality not impressed!

3x5 First navy Jack

Gave it 4 stars because one of the grommets was not seated "tight" on the fabric. This has happened with some other flags from G+P. Easy to fix if you are aware of it. If not, the fabric pulls away from the grommet and the flag is ruined.

Another thing is that my flags always seem to blow out at the fold-over/edge furthest away from the grommets. A "little" extra reinforcing stitching at this point/edge would likely extend the life of the flags significantly for scant added cost.
