The USA 34-Star flag was adopted with the admission of Kansas as the 34th state in January 1861. It was used until 1863 when West Virginia became a state and a 35th star was added.

US flag making was a cottage industry during this time period and flags had differing star patterns until 1912 when Executive Order 1556 (President Taft) arranged stars into rows.
We chose a 34-star laid out in a medallion pattern; including a large star in middle; a popular pattern during the 1860's-1870's.

The linear 34-star layout was most popular but there are some medallion "cottage-industry" flag layouts remaining.

Great Products!

I'd been meaning to create a collection of historical US flag patches for sometime -- French & Indian War, American Revolution, War of 1812, and US Civil War, etc. Had collected a few here or there, but at Gadsden & Culpeper I was able to grab all of them in one big sweep, including several I didn't know anyone made. They are all fantastic! I travel with kids with the intention of enhancing their personal experience of American history. These flags will assist in that and make great conversation pieces! Thanks!

I really love the flag patches by Gadsen & Culpeper! I have about a dozen and they are all excellent quality. I can't stop collecting them. - Randy C.
